Subly: Finance Tracking Mobile App

It’s hard to keep track of all the products and services that we subscribe to each month. All we see is money deducted from our accounts for services that we might not even need or want anymore. Subly has a product that keeps track of all of your subscription fees on websites, apps, services, etc. over the years.

Challenge

Subly has only launched a desktop-only website that is not mobile-friendly and now needs a mobile version of its product that can be used by a broader audience.

Goals

Support the existing Subly website:

  1. Users want to see all of their subscriptions in one place so they can get a comprehensive view of their spending.

  2. Users want to be able to unsubscribe from subscriptions to reduce needless spending.

  3. Lastly, users want to be notified if any subscriptions are about to be auto-renewed so that they can make a decision about if they want to renew the subscription and continue spending money.

User Data

Based on a collection of user research and personas that Subly had on hand, key insights from their data informed me that:

  • The majority of their users are over the age of 30.

  • Their user base is an equal split between men and women.

  • While the product is currently used in the US, the company will be expanding to the German market (to significantly increase its user base.)

Dashboard

The dashboard gives users a quick overview of their subscriptions including: spending analytics, upcoming payments, and current subscriptions.

My Subscriptions

From the dashboard, users can view all of their subscriptions. From there, users can select a subscription from the list and can see or edit additional details and options to pay, unsubscribe, and manage notifications.

Notifications

Users can set up notification to let them know when they are about to be charged for a subscription.
