CityPups: Design Sprint
This project was a Google Ventures Design Sprint project for CityPups: a dog adoption website. CityPups is a startup aiming to help city dwellers find the right dog to adopt. I created a desktop site that makes the process easier.
I completed this project for my Springboard UX course using a modified version of the Google Ventures Design Sprint method. The CityPups project prompt already included user interview notes, research insights, and personas created by the startup. My role was to analyze the provided data, map out an appropriate user flow, design a minimum viable product (MVP) user interface, and test this design with real users.
Challenge
Adopting a dog involves more than just falling in love with a cute face. For people who live in large, dense cities, living spaces are smaller, access to dog-friendly outdoor spaces are rare, and work schedules are erratic, it can be arduous to find a dog they can properly care for.
Goal
The goal of this sprint was to develop an adoption process for the CityPups website that keeps in mind the challenges and constraints of city-living and provides a simpler way for people to find the dog that is right for them and their lifestyle.
User Data
Based on a collection of user research and personas that CityPups had on hand, key insights from their data informed me that:
Users want to learn a dog’s story. When viewing a dog's adoption profile, users want get a sense of the dog’s personality.
Users want to know each dog’s needs -- are they good around other dogs? Are they well-trained? How much space do they need?
Being able to contact the adoption agency easily would be helpful for users.
Homepage
The home page offers 2 way to search for dogs. There is a quiz users can take, or they can search within a certain mile radius of their zip code.
Quiz
This short quiz asks tailored questions which allows users to refine their search before seeing results. while the other option allows users to see broader results and refine as needed.
Search & Filter
After users see their results, they can alter any filters to further narrow down results.
On this page, there are additional extra filters users can use in case they are especially particular of what type of dog they are looking for.
Profile
The dog profiles include photos and videos of the dog, as well as their bio and other important details.
